How To Get Perfect Wedding Day Skin

Wedding planning can lead to stressed out skin. Find out how to prep your skin with a DIY mask that get you that bridal glow. #weddingdayskinprep #weddingdayskin #weddingplanning #weddingtips #weddingtipsandtricks #weddinginspiration

Everyday stress can cause bad skin, but throw in wedding planning stress and you get the perfect recipe for troubled skin.

Name a worse time for struggling skin than a few months before your wedding day! I have been known to put everything in the fridge on my face to create my own face masks but leading up to my wedding day, I was in panic mode. I was determined to figure out a skincare routine that would get me picture-perfect wedding day skin.

If your skin is one more thing adding to your list of things to stress about, here are a few do’s and don’ts that will get you perfect wedding day skin.

Don’t experiment with treatments:

I know it’s tempting to start trying every treatment possible in pursuit of perfect skin, especially before your wedding. I get it because I was there. I went down a rabbit hole reading about various skincare treatments and looking for the best aestheticians I could find. I spent hours on this, and ultimately decided against it every time I got close to booking an appointment. I have super sensitive skin and I am prone to breaking out. If you are in the same boat, you risk breaking out even more if your skin doesn’t like the treatment. Certain treatments involving lasers can also cause existing scars or dark spots to become even darker. If you want to experiment, do it well before your wedding but I recommend taking a more natural and less risky approach that will create similar results.

Buy an aloe plant

This is a purchase you will not regret. Get yourself aloe plant, and you will have accessible and affordable skin care at your fingertips. Aloe is an ingredient used in many skin care products and has numerous benefits. Why buy a product that will eventually have to replace when you can just buy the plant! I know aloe is normally associated with sunburns, but its benefits go way beyond just that. Aloe repairs the skin cells and restores the elasticity of the skin, slows down signs of aging by reducing fine lines and wrinkles, and retains lost moisture in the skin which restores radiance. Not only that, aloe has salicylic acid which unclogs pores and brightens up scars or dark spots. It is also anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory which reduces acne. I mean, do I even need to go on? Just get yourself an aloe plant and thank me later.

How to use: Rip off a piece of a leaf (about an inch). Break it open along the spikey edge so that you have two halves with the inside gel exposed. Rub the gel on your face. Create a thin and even layer on your face. Leave on overnight and wash off in the morning with water. Do this every night before bed for about 2 – 3 weeks leading up to your wedding. As a warning, this may feel sticky and tight as it drys which is why you want to keep the layer of gel super light. It may also feel tight in the morning until you wash it off. You may also need to get used to the smell, but it is worth it!

Find time to face mask:

I have tried every face mask possible in Sephora, but I am telling you none of them measure up to this recipe I conjured up in my own kitchen. Mix together the following ingredients in a bowl:

  • Turmeric
  • Lemon
  • Nutmeg
  • Cinnamon
  • Honey
  • Whole fat yogurt

I will spare you from the list of benefits that all of these ingredients have, but trust me when I say they work! Go light on the turmeric though because this can and will stain your face if you are generous with the turmeric.

How to use: Once you have these ingredients mixed together, apply an even layer to your face and leave it on for about 20 minutes. Wash off with warm water and enjoy your smooth skin! This will also feel tight as it dries, and may sting a little which is why you also want to go light on the cinnamon and nutmeg as your skin gets acclimated to this mask. Use this mask about 3 times a week for a month or two leading up to your wedding. You won’t need to even think about needing any fancy skin care treatment!

Drink celery juice every morning

Where do I even start with the benefits of celery juice? Green juices have always been trendy, but pure celery juice has not received the attention it deserves. Celery juice has some pretty amazing benefits for your body overall, but I’ll focus on just its benefits for the skin here. Celery juice is detoxifying and anti-inflammatory. It has a ton of nutrients and minerals that are amazing for the skin, specific high levels of vitamin A which reduces dark spots and wrinkles, and improves complexion.

How to use: Drink pure celery juice on an empty stomach first thing every morning. Wait about 20 – 30 minutes before eating anything. You can either make fresh juice with a juicer or Suja has a cold-pressed, organic celery juice that I really like. Do this for about 6 months leading up to your wedding and the key to seeing results is staying consistent!
